As a Health Care Assistant at Obatos Care Services, you will provide essential support to individuals in their homes, helping them live independently, safely, and with dignity. This includes personal care, emotional support, social support, and domestic assistance—all delivered with compassion, respect, and professionalism.
You will work within our policies, safeguarding principles, and health & safety regulations while following the care plan of each Service User.
What You Will Do (Key Responsibilities)
Personal & Social Care
- Assist with bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting
- Support with mobility, transfers, hoist use, and physical comfort
- Provide skin, mouth, hair, and pressure-area care
- Assist with continence management
- Help with feeding, nutrition, and hydration
- Administer medication as prescribed and recorded in the Support Plan
- Support rehabilitation programmes in partnership with clinical professionals
Emotional & Social Support
- Offer companionship and reassurance
- Support individuals and families dealing with complex needs or disabilities
- Promote independence through an enabling approach (“doing with”, not “doing for”)
- Supervise Service Users outside the home where required
Domestic Support
- Essential meal preparation and washing up
- Light cleaning tasks linked to the care plan
- Bed-making and essential laundry
- Essential shopping (with receipts)
Professional Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate and detailed care records
- Monitor health changes and report promptly
- Maintain confidentiality at all times
- Work safely within Health & Safety regulations
- Participate in induction, mandatory training, and refresher courses
- Report incidents, concerns, and changes in circumstances immediately
- Work flexibly and provide cover when required
- Attend staff meetings and communicate regularly with your Line Manager
Drivers & Walkers

Experience & Requirements
Essential
- Previous care experience (formal or informal)
- Strong communication skills
- Ability to work independently and follow care plans
- Respectful, compassionate, and professional
- Willing to work flexible hours
- Good IT skills
- Commitment to confidentiality and safeguarding
- Clean driving licence (for driver applicants)
Desirable
- Six months’ experience in the care sector
- QCF/NVQ Level 2 in Health & Social Care (or willingness to train)
- Nurse aid training
- Knowledge of home care services
- Experience handling medication, mobility equipment, or complex care
