Role Overview
The care coordinator plays a key role in ensuring the delivery of safe, high-quality care to all service users. Working closely with the registered manager, you will coordinate care packages, supervise staff, maintain compliance, and support the smooth running of day-to-day operations. This role requires excellent communication, strong organizational skills, and a commitment to delivering person-centered care.
Key Responsibilities
Care Delivery & Compliance
- Keep the registered manager fully informed of outcomes, risks, concerns, and service updates.
- Escalate any issues relating to legislative or regulatory requirements affecting service delivery or staff conduct.
- Conduct service user visits, review care plans, and monitor written records (medication administration, finances, and daily logs).
- Report financial concerns impacting budgets or service efficiency.
- Maintain accurate, timely documentation in line with company policies and CQC standards.
Staff Support & Performance Management
- Assist in the recruitment, induction, training, and supervision of staff.
- Carry out spot checks, competency assessments, and supervision reviews as directed by the registered manager.
- Contribute to regular team meetings and provide operational support to care workers.
- Produce reports and updates for management when required.
Health & Safety
- Be familiar with company obligations under the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and other relevant regulations.
- Conduct Health & Safety risk assessments when instructed.
- Report all Health & Safety concerns promptly to the Registered Manager.
Quality Assurance
- Support the Registered Manager in implementing quality monitoring systems in line with company policy.
- Assist with service user and staff surveys, audits, and performance monitoring.
- Ensure that all staff follow company policies, procedures, and regulatory standards.
- Maintain professionalism at all times—by phone, in person, and in written communication.
- Ensure all incoming calls are answered promptly, politely, and respectfully.
General Responsibilities
- Support the company’s aim to deliver a high-quality, person-centred service through a well-trained, reliable workforce.
- Participate in the out-of-hours on-call rota as required.
- Carry out any additional duties assigned by the Registered Manager that fall within the scope of the role.
Job Specification
Essential Criteria
- Previous experience delivering care at a level equivalent to the responsibilities of a Care Coordinator.
- Strong literacy and numeracy skills.
- Confident presentation and communication skills.
- Good IT skills and ability to use care management software.
- Understanding of care-related legislation and CQC requirements.
- Solid administrative and organisational experience.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
Desirable Criteria
- NVQ Level 3 or Level 5 in Health & Social Care.
- Relevant professional qualifications.
- Experience as a Supervisor, Senior Carer, or similar role in a care organisation.
