Last week, we celebrated National CBD Day. There is no better time than on the 8th of August to recognize and honor CBD, the all-natural hemp substance that has the world buzzing about its various uses, highlighting its benefits & effects.

In recent years, CBD (cannabidiol) extracted from hemp has seen a tremendous uptick in interest in the health and wellness sector, thanks in large part to the endorsements of various high-profile celebrities, including Seth Rogen, Whoopi Goldberg, Joe Rogan, and Kim Kardashian West.

Cannabidiol oil (CBD) may be found in basically two forms:

A full spectrum extract that yields an oil containing not just CBD but also a variety of other Cannabinoids. Terpenes found in cannabis are also present in full spectrum CBD oil, and it is thought that this is what gives the oil its anti-inflammatory effects.

CBD isolate, on the other hand, is composed entirely of CBD and no other cannabinoids or terpenes. Due to the absence or low concentration of THC, CBD has no intoxicating effects. For CBD products, 0.3% THC is the legal limit.

Shoppers looking for natural remedies for a broad range of conditions, including pain, anxiety, depression, heart, and muscle health, consistently rank CBD at the top of their lists, and for good reason: it’s more widely available than ever before both online and in brick-and-mortar stores.

You can get your hands on CBD in many different forms today, from oil drops to skin creams and muscle massages to e-liquids and beverages and even certain edibles.

1. Anxiety Treatment

Cannabidiol (CBD) has shown promise for anxiety management. Serotonin is a neurotransmitter associated with mood, and some studies suggest that this may alter how its receptors in the brain work. Miniature proteins called receptors are anchored to your cells and are responsible for receiving chemical signals and facilitating your cells’ responses to various stimuli.

Preliminary results from animal research suggest that cannabidiol (CBD) may help reduce anxiety by:
Lowering anxiety and sleep induction in situations of insomnia reducing the physical manifestations of anxiety, such a rapid heart rate relieving the distress of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD)

2. Anti-seizure

CBD has already made news as a possible treatment for epilepsy. The research process has just begun. CBD has shown promise in reducing the frequency and severity of seizures in people with epilepsy, therefore scientists are now investigating the optimal dosage for this treatment. The American Epilepsy Society claims that annabidiol research gives promise for seizure disorders, and that research is now being performed to better understand safe usage.

A total of 214 persons suffering from epilepsy participated in a research conducted in 2016. In this trial, patients using standard anti-epileptic drugs also took 2–5mg of CBD orally, daily. In this 12-week trial, individuals were followed to document any unfavorable reactions and the frequency of their seizures. Monthly seizure frequency was reduced by 36.5% across all individuals. However, 12% of those who took the drug had very serious side effects.

3. Neuroprotective

Researchers are studying a brain receptor to determine how CBD might benefit patients with neurodegenerative illnesses, which are diseases that cause the brain and nerves to degenerate over time. CB1 is the name given to this receptor.

Scientists are investigating CBD oil’s potential for treating:
Alzheimer’s disease, Multiple Sclerosis (MS),  Parkinson’s Disease & Stroke.

Inflammation, which may exacerbate neurological symptoms, may also be mitigated by CBD oil. For neurodegenerative disorders, further study on the benefits of CBD oil is necessary.

4. Pain relief

Cannabidiol oil’s effect on the brain’s receptors for regulating pain may help you manage your symptoms. Scientific research suggests that using cannabis after undergoing chemotherapy may have positive effects.

There are further NIH-funded pre-clinical research investigating cannabis’ potential to alleviate symptoms associated with:

  • Arthritis
  • Chronic pain
  • MS pain
  • Muscle pain
  • Spinal cord injuries

Nabiximols (Sativex), a multiple sclerosis medicine produced from a mixture of Cannabidiol (CBD) and Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), is licensed to treat MS pain in the United Kingdom and Canada. However, CBD is thought to have anti-inflammatory effects in addition to its pain-relieving effects, according to researchers. CBD clinical studies are required to establish if it should be used to treat pain.

5. Anti-acne

The immune system receptors that CBD affects may play a role in lowering systemic inflammation. This suggests that CBD oil may be useful for treating acne. Human research published in the Journal of Clinical Investigation indicated that the oil inhibited sebaceous gland function. These glands produce sebum, an oily material that naturally moisturizes the skin. Acne occurs when sebum production is excessive.

You should talk to your dermatologist before using CBD oils to treat acne. To determine whether or if CBD is helpful in treating acne, we need further research done on humans.

6. Cancer treatment

CBD’s potential to inhibit cancer cell proliferation has been the subject of a preliminary investigation. CBD has been suggested by the National Cancer Institute (NCI) to lessen some of the discomfort associated with cancer and cancer therapy. The National Cancer Institute (NCI), however, does not support the use of cannabis in any form for the treatment of cancer.

CBD’s anti-inflammatory and cell-reproduction-altering effects make it a viable therapeutic option for cancer. Cannabidiol (CBD) inhibits the proliferation of some tumor cell types.

Negative Effects of CBD Oil

There are no significant hazards associated with using CBD oil. It’s conceivable, however, that there may be some unintended consequences. This includes, but is not limited to:

  • Depression
  • Dizziness
  • Hallucinations
  • Low blood pressure
  • Withdrawal symptoms, such as irritability and insomnia

To completely understand the spectrum of dangers and adverse effects that CBD oil may produce, we need further human research. Infrequent scientific investigations of CBD oil. One reason for this is the restrictions placed on research using Schedule 1 drugs like cannabis. More questions may be asked now that marijuana products are legal, and more solutions can be found.
